Lampasona Predicts Victory
Winner of Las Vegas trip package calls clean sweep; expecting a win at next week's Trowel Challenge
Call it moxie or just plain confidence. It may be that he's been practicing for the Trowel Challenge. Or, just maybe he's still riding the high of the free plane ticket to and hotel accommodations in Las Vegas.
Call it what you will, but Tony Lampasona (pictured), winner of Wacker Neuson's airfare/hotel trip prize package to World of Concrete, expects to have the Trowel Challenge all sewn up. According to Tony, president of Lindsay Lampasona - Norfolk, MA, "I'm calling the victory. I'm pointing to the fence and calling it."
Tony and Lindsay Lampasona have been using Wacker Neuson trowels for more than a decade. They own a fleet of 20 Wacker Neuson walk-behinds and nearly a half-dozen ride-ons. "We've been fans of Wacker Neuson for years," says Tony. "They have a great team who visits our job sites, offers great support and rises to the occasion.
Whilethey already have a fleet of trowels, there was something about the TrowelChallenge grand prize – a customized CRT 48-35VX ride-on trowel, powered byVanguard – that got Tony and his concrete finishing crews excited when they sawit in November. It could have been the chrome, or quite possibly it was thesheer, raw power generated from that custom-tuned Vanguard engine, screaminglike a Harley at 125 dBA.
“Brandon(Montella, regional concrete specialist for Wacker Neuson) brought the trowelto a jobsite in Long Island around 5:30 p.m. after a long day that started at2:30 a.m.,” recalls Tony. “When he started it up, it energized the crew andeveryone wanted to have their picture taken with it.”
Italso brought Tony back to his concrete finishing roots. While he’s nowPresident of Lindsay Lampasona and sits on committees for the American Societyof Concrete Contractors and American Concrete Institute, Tony is a concretefinisher by trade.
Eversince that sunny November day, Tony has been gearing up for the TrowelChallenge. He laid out a course with cones in the Norfolk shop and has beenpracticing for nearly two months. He has done all of this so he can gethis hands on the trowel.
WhileTony is confident that he’ll win the trowel, he encourages all concretecontractors to sign up for the Trowel Challenge. “Everyone should have theopportunity to ride a Wacker, but don’t even think about winning the customizedtrowel. It’s mine,” jokes Tony.
Accordingto Tony, when he wins the customized CRT 48-35VX trowel, powered by Vanguard,it is going on display at the home office in Norfolk.
